Almost perfect

I have had the older version of this extendable of this leashed for 8yrs and it had serve it's purpose well. The only reason I got a new one is because I got my loving dog a new harness after 8yrs as well. The 16ft length is more than enough room for my "Kaito" to roam around while doing his duties. This new version the only changed I have noticed were the leash locking mechanism. The previous version was very easy to lock and unlock. In the old version to lock I depress the friction button and flick the thumbs up to lock and push the down to unlock. While this new version I would push my thumb down to friction the leash and then have to slide the small button up on top to lock it. The problem is in the winter when I wear gloves it is very hard to push the small button on top to lock and unlock the leash, sometimes I have to take my glove off to unlock it. I would prefer the mechanism to go back to it's original version, however I would still recommend this leash compared to the thin string leash version because I have had rope burn with the string before.

Pretty sturdy

I personally have a dog weighing in at 64lbs, and when he’s on his walks, sometimes he might spot something and full send towards it. The Large 16ft leash is more than capable of handling the weight this dog throws around, and has also been met with the unfortunate circumstance of being dragged through sidewalk and asphalt while the dog achieves Mach 5. However it stood strong with minor scratches and full function-ability! So far I haven’t experience any issues with the leash tangling, however if you use the locking system and force is applied by your dog away from you, releasing the button will not unlock the system, you’ll end up having to do a little jab to move the leash towards your dog temporarily to release all pressure on the locking system so it can retract again. As for the grip, it’s ok, but if you have delicate hands and a strong dog, it might not be for you.

this is the best brand, get the flat tape.

I like the ease of using a retractable leash, always the flat tape, and hope that everyone will use it responsibly. Keep the leash short when around other people and dogs.

Best I've Found

I've used a Flexi leash for the last three years, a large. It's still working perfectly, just looks a little banged up, and the leash is slightly chewed ( my dog grabs it in his mouth, he gets impatient and walks me most of the time). The material used for the leash is very tough, and I'd say it's still as strong as ever. I got this new one since I also replaced his harness, (didn't hold up as well as the leash) so the rig is new all around. I'll keep the old one as a spare since there's really nothing wrong with it. I think the Flexi is the best on the market. Amazon had it a good bit cheaper than the local pet chain stores. Shipped quickly.

Awesome

Nice sized handle, not too big or heavy. Strong mechanism and a very smooth movement. My dog (Doberman) loves the extra freedom of the large 16ft version.

shredded at point oh hold for short lead

I have had a flexi lead for several years, used for my beagle and then boxer pup and was very happy/satisfied with it. As my boxer is now at the top of that weight limit (26kg) and we were going away I decided to get the one for bigger dogs. Very disappointed as after using for just 1 week it has shredded at the point where I need to hold her on short lead whilst we pass difficult areas. I am now not happy to use it as I am worried it will totally break and my boxer will get injured.

Cannot Review - wrong item sent

I would love to post a review but despite the fact the item is stated to be a tape lead, a cord lead was sent. Our dog’s previous Flexi lead broke just before Christmas so we were keen to get a replacement asap. Because the wrong item was sent our dog has had to be walked on a short lead, neither of us are amused!

Light to hold but strong

When I opened the box. I expected the lead to be heavier than it was considering it was for 50kg dog. It was light so I didn't think it would last. But it has and still going strong.

Good Little Retractable Lead

I bought this for my Cockapoo puppy. Originally I had used a much sturdier version of Flexi lead, which I had bought some ten years ago for my Golden Retriever. This version is nothing like as strong, which is a bit disappointing and is why I haven't given it five stars. Hopefully, as my puppy is much smaller than my G.R. it will suffice! I do recommend the Seller as this arrived promptly.

Great until it snapped off during a walk…

The lead was great for about 2-3 months but then out of the blue it snapped while we were out. Luckily we were in an enclosed space so puppy couldn’t escape… Such a shame and I expected more life from a lead of that quality for that price… Real shame as until that point it was a great all round lead! Just to add nothing else was different, same dog, same harness and he didn’t even pull that hard we just went opposite directions at a walking pace
