The grating / webbing on this is PLASTIC, not wire!

I adore the colors vs the older gates, but I was truly disappointed in the grate of this. It stated that it was metal, however IF it in fact is, it's covered with plastic. Not truly safe for a puppy if you are looking for a puppy. Apparently you get what you pay for. I am thinking of returning this. I don't feel it was represented properly in the description or within the the questions and reviews. Short of cutting the webbing I am not sure there is any metal whatsoever within in.

Its alright

Difficult to adjust the width, it takes two hands and alot of messing with. Quite annoying. Short enough, I just step over it because I don't want to mess with trying to get it back in the door way. It serves its purpose.

Difficult to use but adequate for a senior dog gate

In concurrence with other reviews, this gate is tricky to set up and take down, but with some patience, it works exactly as specified. It provides an excellent visual barrier but I would not recommend for any kids or pets that would try to nudge or dislodge the gate. However, it is very lightweight and works perfectly for my senior dog.

They do the job

I used to have these gates years ago when my children were babies. They worked great. This new version isn't as smooth to open and close. Gets stuck easily. Ultimately they did the job but the changes they made over the years weakened their quality.

It’s good for what it’s meant to be

This gate is exactly what it claims to be: an inexpensive, don’t-have-to-drill-holes-in-your-wall gate. It’s not meant to be a permanent fixture. It’s not meant to stop animals from jumping over. It’s 24” tall, which is great if you want to be able to step over it easily, but if you need or expect something taller, look elsewhere. Some of the reviews on this product seem to be upset because they’re expecting this to be something it’s not. This would work well to stop a baby from crawling between rooms. A rambunctious toddler who might try to pull it down - maybe not so much. I use this as a cat gate to give my two cats their own space. My young nimble cat can jump over it when she wants to, and my older more sedentary cat is kept on one side. I did have some issues the first day I had it, with getting the arm bar to push all the way down to lock (after I set it to the correct width). But I left it half up overnight, and the next day it was working fine (and has been ever since). Not sure why, maybe it just needed to “relax”. The sliding lock piece is plastic, and I could see how this might eventually fail, but I’ve been using this gate for months, including taking it up/down repeatedly, and have had no problems with it yet.

Good product, but keep the box!

It works well, but the instructions to install I think are on the box, not on a paper insert. I threw away the box too soon! The package attached to the gate says don't use without installing mounting caps, but has no instructions on how to put them on. So... the white sticky squares in the attached package are very strong double-sided tape. One side sticks onto a black mounting cap square area, and the other sticks right on your wall (I hope my paint stays on if I need to remove the cap.) You cannot remove the cap once you put it on so make sure you position your gate at the right height FIRST! The knobs attached to the end of the gate sit in these mounting caps, then you lock the gate. One more thing, there is a black sliding piece on the gate. You PUSH IT with your thumb to lift or lower the locking arm. I thought I'd break it at first, but that's just the way it was built. You push the part without the noches to be able to slide & release the arm you need to lock or unlock the gate. VERY SAFE... so safe until it can be a bit of a headache. I still like the gate though. Better safe than sorry!

Difficult

This is very difficult to maneuver/install. I have other baby gates that essentially work the same but for some reason this one is more difficult to adjust.

Sturdy once the gate is in place.

This gate is good for the price but a little hard to get into place. The bar that locks into place gets stuck but once you get it in place it is good and sturdy. Good for the money.

Bought at 2000, not worth the price.

It solves the purpose to keep toddlers away from lets say room heater, but for 2000, not worth. Later price dropped to 1700 when I checked while posting review. Moreover , it's mainly made for doors, not for all kinds of furniture like bed - wardrobe gap. Still, while tightening , i could feel the bending of lever.dont know how long will it last

Flimsy, cheap, over-complex, but might be fine for some uses

Got this to separate young grandson and a small angry dog. It broke on the 2nd or 3rd use. If you happen to have an opening that it fits well then it might be just fine. It's not trivially easy to set up, requiring you to find a notch that is just about right then keeping it in place while you exert pressure downwards to tense it to fit. That's when it broke - if the opening is just a tiny bit too small for the notch you have picked it easily buckles outwards, snapping the flimsy arm that holds it. It's pretty ugly too, IMHO, but it might fit with some decor - personally I prefer something with cleaner lines and a less cheap appearance. On the other hand it *is* quite cheap and, unlike the sturdier, easier-to-install, somewhat more expensive barred gates (with which we replaced it) you don't have to worry about small pets wriggling through the gaps.

Poor Manufacturing and Construction

Reason for low rating: 1. The gate is quite flimsy, not really strong enough to do its job properly 2. The wood paneling underneath which the attachment suction cups are is longer than the suction cups i.e. has an overhang. So it doesn't fit properly onto the walls, so essentially the manufacturing is shoddy as we will have to get it sawed ourselves in order for it to fit strongly onto the wall. Essentially a 1 star as the manufacturing is poor as well as the construction which is flimsy so nothing redeeming about it. Thanks.

2nd WTHeck?!

This gate requires your walls to be specific measurements, as they gate has preset notches. My walls are either just short of a notch or over a notch and therefore not able to be used. This gate is frustratingly unless to me. I will be returning it. Ugh!!

Rough Wood and Doesn't Lock Easily

I had one of these Evenflo gates many years ago and was expecting the same quality with this one. Sadly that's not the case. The wood is rough and needed to be sanded. The lock is plastic and doesn't slide into place without a LOT of fiddling around with it. Also if I try to lock it in place in a doorway it bends if there is any pressure on it at all, so I have to choose the position that just barely holds it in place. Fortunately I'm using this for a dog, not a toddler. The one I received is definitely not safe for a toddler.
