Love this- just gave sores to my dog because his hair would get caught in it...

LOVE THIS!!! So easy to use. Sturdy and durable. The issue is not with this collar but the length of my dogs hair. (Old English Sheep Dog) His hair gets caught in the bunny part of it and therefore ends up causing tight mats and in turn, sores. I would TOTALLY use this with my black lab, though!!! Love it! And wish my longer dogs hair would not have an issue with the bunny part. So much easier to put on your dog rather than the collar that comes with the educator. You cannot go wrong with this collar if your dog is short or medium haired. (Very long haired dogs like mine will likely have an issue.) Thank you for a well built product!

Perfect for Giant Breeds!

I have a 165 lb and growing Mastiff pup. The collar that came with his e-trainer was hilariously small for him - not even close! So I researched replacement collars, and even ordered a few that seemed like they might work. Nope! This is the only one, and he even has maybe 4 inches of excess for more growth and his neck measures 28" right now. Highly recommended for these giants who are so hard to shop for. I am using it with a Garmin Sport XC and ordered the 3/4 inch width. It is perfect, easy to change out, and no need for screws or tools. It fits snugly enough to keep contact, but is comfortable enough that he doesn't even seem to know it is there unless he needs a little correction.

Get the fit to work

I purchased this collar on the advise of the trainer. I have 2 the one works perfectly and this one just did not make contact consistantly I did return this collar.

Easy to open/close

Much better collar than what comes with the mini educator. The fast release clasp is easy to open/close, compared to a buckle.

Not for small dogs neck

I got these to make it easier to put on our dogs e-collar. Unfortunately with the buckle and the bungee I could not make it small enough to fit snugly on their necks.

Seems solid, learned the possible ‘why’ on one Complaint.

Things I like… -The collar is exactly as pictured. - Seems well constructed. - It’s way bigger than I’ll need on my Golden. (He’s a 5 m.o.,18kg pup and it wouldn’t fit a dog much smaller, so BE AWARE, read the specs and don’t leave a 1-star review bc you are too lazy to read.) - I may have figured out why some people say the buckle releases. Things I don’t like… - The collar is thinner than the standard biothane collar that comes with the EZ-900 Educator. The rivets seem to be slightly larger in diameter, perhaps to spread the force over a wider area to prevent failures. - Standard rivets are used. Same as the original in design but if the rivets were screw-type thanbthe bungee could be easily replaced. Guess they don’t want that. - I would have preferred a slightly larger, high quality snap buckle. This one is nice but a bit small and difficult to snap. I was wondering why people were saying the buckle would fail. IF…I snapped the buckle carelessly only one side would catch. When I let go the tension on the buckle (tight fitting e collars mean consistent contact and that’s why I bought this collar) that one side would stay ’uncaught’. Any i ward pressure on the remaining side would then release the catch. I have a Max and Neo Martingale collar with a very solid plastic buckle that has a sliding locking catch. That would work great on this collar. I may modify the original in the future to incorporate all of the changes I just mentioned. Until then I think this collar will do the trick.

Worked great while it lasted

The collar was great. We got it and we adjusted it and trimmed off the extra length. Went on our dog well and really helped the educator stay in the right spot. But after about a year clip broke. There is no replacement parts so I have to buy a whole new collar. They also went up in cost by about $10.

Ok..ish

This does seem to to the trick. I had to get the 1inch to fit the width of my collar but it’s very long. It only really ‘just’ fits. My dogs neck is around 16 inches. The length is in the main section that you can’t shorten but the extra adjustable length would fit a horse! I can’t see any dog needing that much length?!

Great collar, but MAJOR mods for necks smaller than 15”

My dog is about 40-45lbs and has a 13.5” neck. She previously had the smaller version of this collar, but the bungee is pretty thin (similar to a hair elastic) and tore after less than one month of use. I was told by my dog’s trainer that her neck was too small for the larger collar and that was my only suitable option for the quick release bungee. I was trying to decide whether or not to repurchase the smaller version or go with a different option, then I saw on the ad for this collar that it could be adjusted small enough to fit my dog’s neck. **I think that size range was removed from the listing details since I purchased, as I do not see it on here now** As others have said, this collar requires MAJOR modifications to ensure a proper fit on smaller dogs. I do not say that lightly, as it took me well over an hour to get it fully adjusted and I am pretty handy. Even getting the rivets into the pre-drilled holes was a nightmare. I had to shove larger things in them repeatedly in attempt to stretch them and be able to get the rivets fully through. The most challenging thing was getting some of the rivets in holes beside each other (no other option) at the end of the collar. I did not want to trim too much off the ends near the holes to ensure that they wouldn’t tear over time, but that made it super difficult to fit end-to-end and get the rivets in. With that being said, this collar now fits her snugly and has held up perfectly well ever since. The bungee is thick and durable in comparison to the smaller version. The price was great and I think it will continue to hold up well. Just beware that if you have a similarly size dog, this collar will require significant modifications that aren’t quick or easy. I don’t think a lot of people would even bother seeing it through with all of the work and hassle that it takes. There is no possible way to make this collar any smaller than I was able to make it, due to the length of the bungee and the non-modifiable section. I can’t see this fitting a dog’s neck that is under 13” with a proper, tight fit. I’d imagine this collar would be fine right out of the packaging for dogs with a neck over 15”.

Not for necks smaller than 15"!!

UPDATE: I removed the non-adjustable section and enlarged holes so that I could use the remaining sections of the bungee collar to get a snug fit. Works great now, but would not recommend for medium to small dogs, unless you are willing to modify it. ****** While the quality of this product is outstanding, it is not made to fit a medium to small-sized dog. Our dog is 34 lbs and has a 14-1/2" neck. The 33" collar (smallest available in the quick snap style) is too big for a proper fit because of a large, non-adjustable section. There needs to be smaller sizes made available for the smaller dogs that are able to wear the Educator eCollars. VERY disappointed!

Much Better than Regular Collar

I wasn’t sure at first about the snap clip. But being metal it is durable and it makes putting the e-collar on at the right adjustment a breeze. The bungee appears to make the collar much more comfortable on my Dobie and it ensures the e-collar will fit snuggly but not too tight. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this again.
