Fantastic nightlight to replace shower fan switch

Where we needed a nightlight...in a bathroom space with no outlets and just a lightswitch, this was a lifesaver & sleepsaver. The adjustable brightness is a big plus. NOTE: If replacing a single pole switch, you may encounter two black wires and ground with no neutral wire. You cannot do a direct swap. A neutral line (which is probably in the junction box) must be added for the nightlight to work when the switch is in the "Off" position.

neat combination light switch w/optional dimmable night light

PROS: - switch controls your existing lights - press nightlight itself (not the switch) to turn nightlight on/off - sensor can turn on nightlight automatically in darkness, off in light - hold nightlight to dim to any brightness - hold for 10 seconds to disable sensor mode and enable always on/off mode - nightlight is 1watt, probably little/no impact to energy bill but bright enough to make a difference to kids, guests, you. a much brighter experience than those traditional switches that have a tiny little dot of light in them (I quite like those too). NEUTRAL: - requires neutral wire connection. this is no big deal for most people. even if it isn't already connected to something inside your electrical gang box, a lot of times it's in there nutted. - price. $16.67 current price seems fair to me, might be too much for some. CONS: - none I'm really digging this little guy and wonder if I should get more. I don't have the Leviton version, but just based on the description and price, the Cooper is superior. The Cooper version is cheaper, can be turned on/off, dimmed, come on/off auto with sensor. It has more versatility than the Leviton version which appears to only work automatically with the sensor (sometimes you may want to turn the damn thing off completely) and can't be dimmed.

It's the best of the alternatives, but there's room for improvement.

Easy to install. As others have said, there's an annoying delay after you turn off the lights before the nightlight comes on. The reason I want a nightlight is so that I don't have to turn on the bright bathroom light at night, so the delay won't be an issue for me given that I'll never turn the bright light on at night. I like that you can dim the nightlight by holding the cover down---the brightest setting is way too bright for me, but would probably be preferable if I was using it as a passage light. I've dinged it a star because the nightlight color is unpleasantly white (5000K?). I'd prefer a warmer color. I've also accidentally turned the nightlight off (which you can do by briefly pressing the cover). Given that the whole point of buying this switch was to have a nightlight, I don't really understand why you'd want to turn the nightlight off.

Loved this little guy. Got if for the bathroom in one of our B&B rooms just what we needed.

Easy to install

So far this has been just what I wanted. It replaced another brand that was to bright and not adjustable. The auto off works very quickly as does the auto on. Easy to install, no new wiring needed.
