It works

I used this on a neoprene footbrace that was too narrow. It applied the grommets fine, but the hole punching did not work on such a thick fabric. It made an outline which I had to trim with scissors. The tool to remove the different punches was not easy and I would up using pliers to change out the different punch tools. Also,it has instructions and pictures which should be easy, but I confused two parts and my grommet got stuck until i figured it all. In all I am impressed with its ability to work with neoprene, but the size is for crafts and definitely will look weird with clothing items because the grommets are large. Also the dritz grommets are terrible, several did not fit together and they are sold separately. Attached is the picture of my foot brace modification, which I applied the grommett inside out so I would not have any scratching on my foot.

Great purchase

This tool is just what I needed for the grommets I bought for a bag I made. I am very happy with the purchase. Keeping the tool handy for the next bag I make.

I haven't been disappointed with any of my Dritz grommets.

I have done a moderate amount of research trying to find reasonably priced well made grommets, and have found that Dritz makes a well made, fairly reasonably priced product. I tried a bulk buy that was a disaster with terrible quality grommets that were much thinner and smaller than the ones from Dritz. It's great to be able to buy 8 to a package. The antique brass color matches other antique brass products from different manufacturers. One thing to be wary of is not placing more than one washer on at a time. The washers are thin and it can be deceptive how many you are placing on the fabric, as you can't tell by the weight whether you are picking up one or two or even three washers at a time. Twice I accidentally hammered two washers on at the same time before realizing I had done this. I only realized the mistake when I was counting up the various pieces.

Maybe an Improved Tool - Shame This Old South Carolina Company Moved The Jobs to China

Since my old "made in USA" Dritz Grommet Pliers were not cutting holes well, I thought I would try a new pair. The new ones are made in China. The plastic (over metal) grips are an improvement. The hole-cutting system is now a punch into a hole. The old system used a circular cutter against a plastic anvil. Time will tell as to which is better. The grommet former and the cutting are now done with two separate bits that are held in by plastic sockets. Evidently these sockets will wear to the point of not holding the bits in because they furnish you an extra pair of sockets. Again, time will tell.

Incorrectly packed by mfr (Dritz)

I use these grommets often and know that they can easily nest and stick together, so upon opening the package I always carefully separate fronts and backs to make sure that they are all separated. Of the 5 packs in this order 1 pack had 8 backs but only 7 fronts. I went through them repeatedly and came up short each time. This means that one of the packages contained only enough supplies to make 7 (not 8) grommets. I would've returned it - a package is very expensive, close to $5.00 for 8 thin metal grommets - but I was right on top of a deadline for completing a project.

Quality Should Be Better for the Price

Considering these cost almost $1.00 per grommet, you'd think they'd be heavy-duty. Unfortunately, not so. They are pretty thin and flimsy, which would be fine for certain projects, at a different price point, however. Maybe at a third of the price these would be worth what you get, in my opinion. I'm a real consumer writing real, uncompensated reviews. I take the time to give feedback on my purchase experience because I find other honest reviews helpful, and I'm tired of all the fake reviews on this site that are ruining the ability to research a product before buying it.
