Good little coffee pot for work
I bought this in 2020 to take to work. I had one of the few "essential" jobs at that time. I am still using it. It work's fine. My biggest complaint is that the coffee pot does not keep the coffee hot. If you don't drink it right away it will get cold sitting on the burner since it turns off about the time you have finished drinking the first cup. Also it leaks a slight bit between the plastic and metal part of the pot. I just hold a paper towel by the neck when I pour.

I like this.
I needed a coffee maker to store at a place I visit often. I bought a cheapo think at the local hardware. Did not do the job. I got this one for just a few dollars more than the cheapo. Makes GREAT COFFEE. If you just need to make up to 4 cups, get this one. You will not be sorry.

Less waste; good safety features
This coffee pot is a dream to clean and makes good coffee. If you're in a hurry or impatient and need a cup of coffee before it's done brewing, it stops when you pick it up to pour. The only thing I am not crazy about is that it automatically turns off a little too soon - the safety feature is great, but I would like my coffee to stay hot just a little bit longer. I often have to heat my second cup in the microwave! Other than that, I definitely recommend it if you live alone or are (like me!) the only coffee drinker in your house.

Makes good coffee -- but not a good machine for hearing impaired
The Cuisinart DCC-450BK 4-Cup Coffeemaker makes a good cup of coffee. It is simple to use. Just put a #2 cone filter in the basket, add in the desired amount of coffee and pour in the desired amount of water. This is advertised as a 4 cup coffee maker....that is four 5 ounce cups, even though a "cup" is actually 8 ounces. The water tank holds about 23 to 24 ounces of water, so if you are careful, you can probably get about 22 to 23 ounces of coffee, taking into consideration the coffee grounds and filter will retain some of the water. I am satisfied with the amount of coffee this makes. The manual states that all plastic parts that come into contact with water are BPA free. The coffee pot itself is stainless steel with plastic. If you are hearing impaired, this coffee maker could be frustrating. There is nothing to indicate the coffee maker has finished brewing, no light, no beeping, no signal. The stainless steel pot is just that....stainless steel. You cannot see how much coffee is in the pot. The only way to tell if it has finished brewing is to listen to it. When it stops huffing and puffing, and the trickling noise has stopped, it has finished brewing. Or, just wait about 10 minutes after pressing the start button. For the impatient folks, the pot can be removed in the middle of brewing to get a cup of coffee. This really isn't a good idea because it affects the coffee flavor. The early part of the brewing will likely be stronger and the later part of the brewing will be weaker. If one waits until brewing is completely finished, the flavor will be more even. The heating plate automatically shuts off after 30 minutes. This may be too short for some people to finish 4 cups. A lot of the time I'm pouring the hot coffee into a thermal mug so this isn't a big deal. On the days when I'm relaxing, I may discover the warming plate has shut off and the coffee is cooling down. On the bright side, the coffee doesn't get "cooked" on the warming plate. There is no clock on this coffee maker; that was clear to me before I purchased it. I don't need a clock. If I know I'll be in a rush in the morning, I'll set the coffee maker up the night before with water and coffee. In the morning, I'll just turn it on, then go get dressed. By the time I'm dressed, I have hot coffee. If you really want a timer, use a heavy duty appliance timer and plug the coffee maker into that....or buy a different small coffee maker with a clock, but then you won't get the good coffee this machine makes. The coffee pot doesn't drip when pouring. I think this is the first coffee maker I have owned that didn't drip during or after pouring. Cleaning is easy. Cuisinart recommends washing in warm sudsy water after each use and dry....like who really has the time to do that every day. I'll rinse the basket, pot and lid under warm running water and let it air dry. When I have time, I'll wash everything. So far, no issues doing this. Getting all of the water out of the pot is a bit of a challenge. The lip inside the pot doesn't let all of the water pour out, even if it is completely upside down. I have found shaking it over the sink works to get most of the water out, then I let it air dry. I don't care about water spots, but I haven't gotten any yet. I suspect I will after several months, but that doesn't bother me. Cuisinart customer service told me the water heats up to the 195 to 205 range. I suspect it does. Immediately after brewing, the coffee in the pot is 185 degrees, and this was starting with cold filtered tap water in the water tank. There will be temperature loss as the water goes through the coffee grounds and into the pot. What is important is the temperature the water gets to before it hits the coffee grounds....this I haven't figured out how to safely measure. Whatever, it makes good coffee.

Best coffee machine ever
I was looking for a small coffee maker for my very tiny kitchen in my vacation home. I didn’t expect these small coffee machines being great, maybe good enough. But, this little machine makes really hot and good coffee. It doesn’t beep when is finished but, I don’t mind it. I give it two thumbs up.

Great small coffee maker
Works great for my needs. Have other Cuisinart products and purchased because the quality so far has always been good. Also purchased the permanent filter. Like that also. Cone 4 cup disposable filters are not always easy to find where I live.

The BEST 4-Cup Coffeemaker I've Ever Owned
This is hands-down the BEST 4-cup coffee-maker I've ever owned - and believe me, I've gone through more than my fair share of them! I can only surmise that most people who've rated it less than 5 stars are not that experienced with such smaller brewers. The base unit's lid is exceptionally well designed, such that it discourages the consumer from opening it up during the brewing cycle and thus scalding yourself from the hot steam. The carafe's lid is equally well designed... better than any other 4-cup model I've ever owned. Some people have complained that when pouring from it the coffee "dribbles all over the place" but that is because ALL 4-cup coffee-makers' carafe lids are designed to require a slow pour... but this one is better designed than others, actually allowing a slightly FASTER pour without the dribbling. Although some people have claimed that the stainless steel carafe imparts a "metallic" taste to the coffee, this is simply not true. The *perception* of such a taste is honestly purely "psychological." Nevertheless, everyone's certainly entitled to their own personal preferences so if you really BELIEVE that a stainless steel carafe somehow inexplicably imparts a "metallic" taste to coffee by all means do not purchase this model. But I can assure you it just isn't true, and this stainless steel carafe will never break so you will no longer find yourself having to replace it due to breakage (like everyone who had bought the cheaper "Kitchen Gourmet" brand from Walgreens - before they had to pull them from the market - has had to). What IS true is that this brewer makes a VERY good cup of coffee. It uses cone-shaped filters, which consistently brew coffee more thoroughly than do flat-bottomed basket filters. And whereas most coffee-makers - even smaller ones such as this one - often tend to deposit their hot water over the grounds in a manner that is uneven and does not thoroughly extract all of the coffee's flavor without having to open up the brewer's lid and redistribute the grounds during mid-cycle, THIS coffee-maker gets it "right" - even when brewing only 2 cups (that's 2 "European"-size cups by the way, not the larger "American" cup size) - so there is NO NEED to redistribute the grounds mid-cycle. While some buyers have stated that they thought this coffee-maker produces coffee that is not hot enough, upon deeper investigation I've determined that this may *seem* so to them because its 30-minute warming plate auto shutoff feature ACTUALLY WORKS! The fact of the matter is that ALL such coffee-makers supposedly have a 30-minute auto shutoff of their warming plate, but in the cheaper brands/models this feature more often than not DOES NOT WORK - resulting in over-heated coffee evaporating, drying and getting caked onto the inside bottom of the carafe, and potentially causing a fire hazard. The 30-minute auto shutoff on THIS model, however, ACTUALLY WORKS! So people who are not used to this feature actually WORKING will find that 45 mins. to an hour after the brewing is complete the coffee in the carafe is indeed cooler than proper serving temperature. In fact, if you try actually touching the stainless steel carafe within 30 mins. of completion of the brewing cycle you will find that it is VERY hot... the design of the plastic handle will PREVENT you from accidentally burning your knuckles when you go to pick it up and pour the coffee - again, an excellent and well-thought out design. The instructions that come with this model instruct the user to always use high quality, freshly ground coffee, and encourage you to grind your own in SMALL BATCHES. HEED THIS ADVICE. This coffee-maker does SUCH a good job of extracting the grounds' flavor that it will AMPLIFY any "off" taste of poor beans or stale ground coffee... as any really GOOD coffee-maker will. It comes with the proper-sized ("European," like Gevalia's) coffee measure... USE it; if you use an "American" sized one you will probably wind up with coffee that is too strong. If you are a true coffee connoisseur, love coffee that is brewed to *true* perfection, and looking for a 4-cup model that for all practical purposes will last virtually forever with minimal care, THIS IS THE ONE TO BUY. Any price under $25-$30 is a good buy; I bought mine from 6th Avenue Electronics via Amazon for $23 with free shipping - an *exceptionally* good price - but 6th Ave is now completely sold out of the model and I suspect that it may be harder and harder to find it as time goes on so if you can get one BUY IT NOW before it's too late; you will NOT regret it. I rate it 5 STARS. P.S. Like most "4-cup" coffeemakers these days, it ACTUALLY has a 5-cup capacity: If you fill its water tank up to the very bottom edge of its "emergency" water overflow hole in the upper back of the unit - and of course put an additional coffee-measure's worth of coffee in the filter basket - you'll get that fifth cup (which the carafe can accommodate without overflowing once the brew cycle has completed).

Redesign of spout so that it is now dripless!
We bought this coffeemaker approximately 12 years ago and loved everything about it (just perfect for brewing coffee for two people, does not take up lots of counter space, unbreakable steel carafe, easily portable, etc. except for the spout that caused the coffee to spill all over the place. We had to pour the coffee into our mugs over our kitchen sink as it made such a mess. I guess the company got a lot of bad reviews for the design flaw and corrected the problem. We just poured our first cups of coffee today and WOW not one drip!!!! Now we have the perfect coffeemaker that is extremely durable and that no longer leaves a mess! Congratulations Cuisinart for taking the time to improve on bad designs!

Love this coffee maker
Best little coffee maker. Keeps coffee hot for 30 minutes before it shuts off. Perfect size for 1 or 2 people.

It cleans easily, compact
The coffeemaker makes 12 ounces of coffee....so I was puzzled if it was for demitasse expresso drinkers. It cleans easily, compact; easy to store and use. Perfect for a single person. We drink from an 8oz and a 10 oz cup, so it did not solve that problem for both of us, now that we downsized. I was disappointed that the carafe (the main reason I bought it) was not air tight, and that the coffee was not hot. I am not in a hurry to drink before I eat breakfast, and assumed it would be delightfully hot within 30 min auto -shut-off. Still searching for my dream carafe! Meanwhile we'll use our bulky but efficient Cuisinart 12 cup carafe.
