Rugged, decent weight, slim around thigh, phone holder

As other reviewers have said, these shorts fit kind of slim around your thighs. Some like it, some don't. I do. I like that look but it's important to note I wouldn't call these "skinny", just slimmer than baggier shorts that look borderline like "skorts" from the side, which is an image I DON'T like. Other than that they work really well. The side pocket is very functional, fitting my iPhone 6 with protective case perfectly, though it does stick out a bit but I'm sure that helps with removal. The fact that it's not a spacious cargo pocket is a really good thing because honestly what else are you going to want clanking around in a spacious cargo pocket besides something heavy? Furthermore, the waist size is true to fit and it has a zippered security pocket. The only semi downside I can think of is that the back pockets are Velcro, which I'm not crazy about but I think it's better than a snap or a button through a slit as well.

Very stiff

Roc 2 where my favorite shorts. This is there replacement. Not impressed very stiff like canvas. Not that comfortable.

Stretchy tight fit

These were more elastic and fit tighter than I expected. I have several similar Columbia shorts which all run a bit oversize, but not these.

Perfect Fit - Not Baggy or Skin Tight - Almost Tailor Fit

After a year I am still loving these shorts. Very comfortable with just enough openness around the leg and not baggy in the seat. Wish they came in navy or is that what "Abyss" is?

Comfortable and durable kahki shorts

I found a pair of Columbia shorts (an earlier version of this product) some years ago. They fitted me very well and I searched for this product in occasional visits to local vendors. I did not find this item on the racks, and if it ever made it to racks my size would be available in only one case. At Amazon I found the latest (flex) version and I purchased a bunch. I am retired, love hiking and long car trips and these pants are simply perfect for me. Just one more reason why I really like and appreciate Amazon.

Fits much biiger than I expected

The material is fine, but it fits much bigger than I expected throughout the entire shorts.

Solid, durable adventure shorts

My husband wears these for most of our outdoor escapades. Hiking, camping, etc. They are extremely durable. The fabric feels a little thick and "rough," but he says they feel great. As with any active short, it sits a tad higher on the knee, but doesn't bother my guy who is otherwise wearing basketball shorts. They also might look a little tight on the thigh, but I've been assured that they are not actually, rather, they are really stretchy and the form fit helps keep loose fabric out of the way (important for rock climbing). He's 6.3 and 240 and wears a comfortable 38'' in these. Have several pairs and will likely buy more.
