Bestway may not be the best way.

This was the recommended chlorinator for the Bestway pool I bought. It does not work with the pool it was advertised with. The chlorinator adapter (aka adapter #6) is much too large to fit the filter that came with the pool. Unfortunately due to weather I was 4 days too late to apply for a return. Very disappointing and false advertising. Buyer beware.

This works perfectly! My levels all look great and we haven't had to add any chemicals at all!! All you have to do to set this up is plug in each side of the hose, plug it in, and set how many hours you need it to run each day. If you have a timer for your pool pump then make sure this time meshes up with the pool pump being on because the pool pump has to pump water thru this (this doesn't have a pump in it.) With this system you'll add the required amount of salt you need for your size pool. You can get the salt at pool suppy stores, sometimes hardware stores- just make sure you get the swimming pool salt as it's finer and will dissolve well in the pool. Dump in the amount you need and push it around with a pool broom or kick it around with your feet to mix it in. Once it's well mixed you can turn the saltwater chlorinator on and set it up. If you set it up BEFORE the salt is fully dissolved, it'll give you a low salt error. The way these work- the pool pump runs the saltwater thru the tube in this machine and it has metal cells that turn that to chlorine that sanitizes your pool and keeps alae and everything at bay. I've done this for years with another saltwater chlorinator and NEVER had to add any chemicals or algaecide. **Maintenance- since it's salt, it'll build up on the metal cells in time and eventually clog them and cause an error. So turn off everything, plug up the ports in the pool, and disconnect the hoses on this so you can pour some muriatic acid thru the hose and it'll clear the salt out quick. You could try plugging one hose, turning it on it's side, and filling it's tube with vinegar- that might work if you left it in there long enough.. But I've always used the muriatic acid with no issues. Just try not to get it on your hands, it won't burn holes in you but isn't great still. Make sure pets are put up when you go to pour this and do not do it inside, it'll etch your tubs and ruin chrome/ metal trim pieces in tub. So keep the acid away from like everything. It's a very stable and safe acid- it won't just burn thru the jug so it's not anything scary. **You don't have to dump your current water to switch to saltwater unless you're using an antibacterial chemical that contains polyhexamethylene biguanide. That is not compatible with saltwater.

The Electronic Chlorine Generator by Bestway, is a great way to effectively keep your pool clean with salt instead of other chemicals. Here are some of the things I’ve learned while owning it and things to consider before buying. I. Quality – This is a well-made machine, just like other things I’ve gotten from Bestway. It’s not the best on the market, but it’s built well and provides a lot of value. II. Installation – This is super easy to install, just hook up the tubes, add the right amount of salt, mix it up, and turn it on. Also, keep in mind that this doesn’t include a pump, you’ll still need a pool pump in addition to this to push the water through it. III. Performance – It has worked really well for me with a simple operation that’s effective at converting the salt into chlorine, and it’s never given me a problem. It’s a very low effort and maintenance way to keep your pool clean without adding direct chemicals. You’ll have to clean off the buildup on the plates periodically, but it’s not that bad and easier than many other options. Overall, I love keeping my pool clean with this method. It’s easy, keeps my pool super clean and I don’t have to constantly add those eye watering levels of chemicals to keep the algae at bay. I highly recommend this one, but I’ll be sure to update this review, if I ever start to have problems with it. You can trust that this review is simply my honest opinion that is attempting to provide you with helpful insight that I wish I had before I picked this product. Hope for better

The media could not be loaded. I have saltwater Chlorinator/ filters with the plugs-in big copper head for the last 9 years. They all lasted about 3 years. I just hope that this newer version is better made. Cross my fingers and I will find out in a few years. Thank you for dropping by.
