not bootcut
These jeans (Ariat M7 Rockers) are great, one of the only styles that fits my tall, string bean son - BUT it was not stated whether they were straight or bootcut. They are straight leg and do not fit over his boots. We even tried the 90's idea of slitting the inside of the leg at the bottom, still not wide enough to fall over the shaft of his cowboy boots...so we own them now and he will wear with his shoes...but back to the quest of finding jeans skinny enough in the waist and long enough to look good with boots - in a bootcut...

Why?
Why do manufacturers list a product as slim when that product is not slim? I have a specific color of Wranglers that are slim, laid flat and measured at the same point on the thighs these jeans are 3/4 of an inch wider, that's an inch and a half larger overall. Admittedly better than the 3 inch difference of those same Wranglers in any other color, but still larger than I want. I look for a 38" inseam as shorter jeans always shrink to flood level when washed. That length is difficult to find and finding in a slim seems almost impossible. I'll keep these jeans as they're closer than anything else I've tried, but the search continues for a better fit. BTW, they are made of thinner denim, so durability may be an issue. Waist size is just a hair small for me and the color on Amazon is bit lighter than the actual product.

Someone Who Gets Low Rise Jeans
With the shorter zipper these are truly low rise jeans. Look, ARIAT seems to have figured out how fit guys with "a big gut and no butt". My wife said they were the best fitting jeans she had ever seen on me. I wear my jeans well below my navel and the crotch always goes halfway to my knees but these fit really well. Maybe another inch removed between the crotch and zipper and the fit would be perfect but I am not complaining. I am a 6'2", 300 lb male and wear a 40 X 30. M7: Best fit ever.

I really was amazed how nice!
These jeans really do look good and are very comfortable and I am not kidding . I'm 66 and I look great in them. Have gotten lots of comments on them. That usually don't happen the older you get!

Great pair of jeans
Similar in sizing to Cinch Ian jeans.. which means in Carhartt I wear a 34 waist, in Levi's 32 waist, and in Cinch & Ariat a 31 waist. These M7 are a nice tight fit very similar to the Ian's from Cinch.. love them!
