Best of the Rubbery Trash Cans, narrow 40L model

I have had several trash cans of this style; the closest is the Hefty brand you can buy at most big box stores. What makes this one better is 1) it has a visible red-green indicator to show if it is locked, and 2) It has a spring that keeps the top from slamming, and it goes down nice and smooth. 3) To leave it in the open state, you can lift the lid manually, and it will stay up, or use the pedal. Other brands make you do one or the other, and the mechanism is not as robust. 4) The mechanism to hold bags firmly on top is easy to use and not prone to breaking. Other models overly complicate holding the top of the bag. I'm very happy with this trash can and will slowly replace my existing cans with this design.

Bag - Easy In, Easy Out

I did not have high hopes for this trash can. Our Simple Human trash can gave up after quite a few years and they no longer offer one small enough for my kitchen space. So, what a surprise! After struggling with each and every bag change for years, this one is SO EASY! Also I thought this trash can, being all mat black plastic, would look ugly. But, not only is this one virtually smudge-proof, It is MUCH LESS noticeable than the black-and-"stainless" old one. At $52 vs. $140+, it is a winner! I give it 5 stars, even though, as with anything I purchase these days, I do not expect it to last very long. Last note: use Hefty Ultra-Strong BLACK 13-gallon bags.

I prefer to simply human!

This is a good trashcan, I've had two pretty expensive simply human trash cans and they both broke. This one actually seems a little better made so far I prefer it! Yay!

Works well

Bought this to deter our new puppy from jumping up onto the bin. So far it's worked well. The lid makes it harder for her to "sniff out" the good stuff. It's heavy enough she doesn't really knock it over. The foot pedal works well, and the lid opens and closes just fine. As others have said the 13gal trash bags work great.

Sent to me broken

The shipping was fast and I was very excited for it to arrive so my dog would keep out of the trash. I opened it up and the black plastic pieces for the lid to hinge was snapped on both sides so my tray would close all lopsided or not at all… wasn’t too happy about I’d like a new one or my money back

Perfect For Beside of Recliner

It's the PERFECT size and height to fit along side of recliner and sofa arms. It's lid makes a handy side table. It has a swivel retainer that holds trash bags open and from falling inside. It's one of the best purchases I've made to fulfill a need, as planned.
