Love this- would be better with a light

I love this clock. The numbers are large and easy to read. It can be set on 24 hour clock if you prefer. The temperature reading seems accurate. It has the date, day of the week, and even the phase of the moon cycle! There is an alarm setting as well. It looks great on the wall and the interchangeable face plates make it easy to fit your style in any room. It could be even better if it has a backlight which would make it readable in a dark room and from various angles. Since it does not have a light you cannot see it in the dark and therefore maybe not ideal in a bedroom where you might want to see the time at night.

Very Nice, but Needs a Backlight Button

This is a nice, large clock which shows lots of other information too. The lack of a backlight might be an issue in some situations, but where I have it the clock is not far away and the numbers are so big that it isn't a problem. Changing the color of the clock frame is simple because they are just held on by magnets. The silver one seems to have a stronger magnetic attraction than the others. I'm not sure why they included a black one since the clock without any frame is black and looks fine as is (as shown in one of the photos). The instructions aren't the greatest, but that's not a problem since setting it up is intuitive. Just press and hold the set button on back until things start flashing, then change the numbers with the up and down buttons. I have not tried the alarm clock settings. Since this doesn't have a backlight or even a button to press for a backlight, I don't find it useful in the dark and probably won't use that feature. Quality seems decent. I wouldn't want to drop it for fear it might break. There are a couple of small pits in the stainless frame. I do like that it runs on batteries so I can put it wherever I want. The current price is $25.07. I think that's a little high given that it does not have a backlight. Since it runs on battery power a backlight would probably drain them too quickly, but a button to press to turn on a backlight as needed would be nice.

Decent LED clock

Short info: Decent, visible LCD clock with a nice touch in the ability to swap out frames. I'd been considering a digital clock for one of my rooms for a while, so when this came up to review, I snagged one. First, as you can see in the pictures, it's an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) clock - *not* LED. I mention it because (A) not everyone might be used to them and (B) if I type LED, it's my fingers typing it out of habit and nothing the brand says. :) You're not going to see this in low light or in the dark, it relies on reflecting ambient light. Visibility-wise, though, my vision's not perfect and I can see this easily across the largest room in my apartment, the long way, plus some - probably a good 20 feet. Which is important for a clock. The frames are decent (and plastic, other than the metal one) and attach via magnets. Very easy to swap out. Adjusting this is done via buttons on the back - as is turning on and off the alarm (and hitting snooze.) Simple "Set/Up/Down" to handle 12/24hr, degrees F or C, time and date. Nothing fancy, no apps to download or anything, just press the buttons. It displays the time (duh,) and underneath that the (indoor) temperature, date and moon phase in about inch high letters on the bottom. It can be hung on the wall (which I plan on doing) or you can use the fold out stand. It *can* be used as an alarm clock - I wouldn't, personally. Setting the alarm's simple as setting the time, but (a) all the buttons, including turning the alarm off and snoozing it, are on the back (and it's simple on/off,) and (b) it's not that loud. I set the alarm (which starts as one beep every second, then two, then three every second) and honestly could see myself sleeping through it very easily. And the button placement (and very simple functionality) means it's not going to be useful as a timer, either - but why are you using a wall clock for that? Oh, one last thing. The product listing makes sure to mention Acurite is headquartered in Wisconsin and has been the "leading manufacturer" of clocks and weather stations since the 40s. I have a quibble with this. First, if you read that and think this is a "weather station," it isn't, it's a clock - but that's pretty clear throughout the ad. Two, while they may be the leading manufacturer - this clock is made in China. They don't hide that on the box (after all, what *isn't* made in China these days, it's like saying "Air in room may contain air") but if you buy this thinking you're buying something made in the US... you're not. It's imported and branded. (It does say "country of origin - China" in the product information, in fairness, but that's down farther than most people probably scroll.)

Nice large clock

Let me start by saying - I thought the faceplates were defective because they wouldn’t stay on - then I realized there was one already on it that it was shipped with that had to be removed first so, before you get to aggravated take the one on it off! The clock itself is nice but basic but does have a large display and the temp which I like. I do wish it had a backlight for night.

Fancy digital clock but no backlight

This clock is a fancy digital clock with a lot of interesting features. I like that it comes with different magnetic frames allowing you to change the look according to your mood or simply to better match your style. The large digital readout is easy to see from across the room, making this an ideal clock for a bedroom or kitchen. The clock also features a moon phase counter and an ambient temperature gage so that you always know the temperature of the room, which is especially important when you have a little one that needs to be kept warm. The only thing that would improve this clock would be if they added a backlight to it, otherwise it is a fancy digital clock

Clock you can place anywhere

The clock is great, honestly. You can read the screen from across the room and the various faceplates look fairly nice. We chose to use the bamboo plate though we will probably change it up when the mood hits. I love that we can place it literally anywhere without having to worry about where to plug it in but I do wish there was at least an option cord we could use if we wanted to plug it in.... I suggest rechargeable batteries for anyone getting this clock. Another drawback to it only being battery powered is that the screen does NOT light up. So if you are going to put this in a bedroom or something, you won't be able to read it unless you get really close to it. All in all, it is a good clock.
